Not my life!

It’s incredibly overwhelming to consider that the life within me is not really mine at all. This life that flows through me, in a way that humans will never fully comprehend, has existed since forever. It’s an eternal force that belongs to a higher power, not me. This life has always been and always will be. It existed before I was born, it exists now, and it will exist long after I leave this place and spend eternity worshipping the giver of life. This existence, which I too often take for granted, was graciously bestowed upon me by the love of our great God and Creator, THE Savior, Jesus Christ!

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men.”

John 1:1-4

Realizing that we exist solely because of Him is an unspeakably humbling thought. He doesn’t depend on anyone for His existence, and yet, we depend on Him entirely for ours. He is the very embodiment of existence and life that flows through every living being, both past and present.

Lord, we thank you for your humility in creating us. We thank you for your patience with us, despite our sinful ways. We thank you for your providence, for taking care of us and watching over us. Most of all, we thank you for your salvation, which is found in Jesus Christ alone. Jesus, thank you for extending your grace to someone as unworthy as me.

In Him, with love

“Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children. And walk in love, as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”

Ephesians 5:2

I am not that great! But He is!
