Calming The Storm.

I just finished reading Chapter Five of “Seeing and Savoring Jesus Christ” by John Piper, and let’s just say that I’m feeling encouraged! The chapter was a powerful reminder of God’s great power and authority over all things. This truth should strengthen our confidence in Him and should deepen our faith. Jesus is in control of all things!

However, it wasn’t His great power that overwhelmed me; it was His love for us. Just like how He deeply cared for the disciples aboard a storm-tossed ship, we can trust that he will care for us. Jesus is not distant or unconcerned, but intimately involved in our lives. We can trust in His great Grace and perfect goodness.

As I read, I couldn’t help but ponder the trials I’ve faced in my life. There have been more than one occasion where I’ve felt weak and powerless, and have lost sight of God’s promises and love. But this reminder of His great power over all things, including that storm-tossed ship with Jesus on board, reminds me that he is always with me and cares for me deeply. I know that I can trust Him, even when the ship is being smashed by waves.

So, today, I will be praying for faith to believe that Jesus truly is in control of all things, and that He glorifies himself by giving me what I need. I’m also praying for strength to trust in Him, even in the midst of life’s stormy ups and downs. I hope that I am sincerely grateful for the reminder of HIs power and love so well captured in this book and chapter.

Thank you, Jesus, for being with me always, and for calming the storms in my life.
