Stinky little Bug!

The tiny black bug stands firm with its back straight in the air, taking aim and ready to fire. With complete confidence in its own ability to resist, the stinky little bug holds its ground.

CRUNCH!

The barely audible sound of my Trek Mountain bike’s front tire effortlessly crushing the brave little stink bug, which I almost fail to hear.

These little black bugs occupy most of the bike trails around my hometown, and they are determined to hold their territory. Their bravery never ceases to amaze me!

However, it is incredibly foolish for these little stinkers to challenge the unstoppable force of my front tire (relatively speaking, of course. I’m not that great! 😉 ).

Every time I approach one of these little guys, I am reminded of the foolishness of a man standing in front of God, waving his fist in the air and screaming, “YOU DON’T EXIST!”

“The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” (Psalm 14:1)

I recall how blind I once was, standing among those who would push back against a Holy God. How foolish I was to resist the all-powerful, all-knowing, everywhere-present, immovable being, Yahweh!

“I was blind, now I see” (John 9:25).

These little bugs have a better chance at beating back the front tire of my bike than I ever had of resisting the will of God! Before the Lord saved me, I was more than blind; I was “dead in the trespasses and sins in which I once walked…But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved me, even when I was dead in my trespasses, made me alive together with Christ—by grace I was saved!” (Ephesians 2:1 & 4, emphasis added).

I remind myself of this truth every day. Because “He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God…Blessed is the man who makes the Lord his trust, who does not turn to the proud, to those who go astray after a lie!” (Psalm 40:2-4).

I love you Lord!

In him, with love,

mike

P.s

Don’t be a stinky little bug! You are not that great! LOL! I’m sorry…I couldn’t resist!
